Having worked in the pension industry for many years, we have recently been asked on a number of occasions how trustees can comply with the requirements set out by The Pensions Regulator.

Indexed
To quote The Pensions Regulator, “The information should be published in a manner which allows for the content to be indexed by search engines”. To put it simply, when you use a search engine like Google, the information needs to be found.
No Login
In order to see the Chair’s Statment and SIP, you should not have to enter a user name and/or a password. You should not have to enter any personal details.
Easily Typed
The web address must be included in the member’s Annual Benefit Statement. The web address should be appropriately titled and must be easily typed into a web browser.
Accessible
The information should take into account the needs of disabled people. For example, the text should be available to screen reading software, the page should have adequate contrast and have the ability to zoom to make text larger. The recognised standard is WCAG 2.0 (Web Content Accessiblity Guidelines).
Printable
The text should have the ability to be downloaded and printed using the common web browsers’ in-built functions.
